Jim Reader and Doug Paddock are a 'subset' of The Relics, performing as a duo with Jim on his guitar and versatile Doug forgoes the drums for upright bass. Their repertoire reins in the volume and the tempo of their four-piece band. They both have a soft spot for melodic, mellow and easy listening material.
A Chillaxing Evening of Low, Slow and Mellow Timeless Music.
OVERVIEW: Both retired from day-job-careers, these two seasoned musical throwbacks perform a refreshing repertoire of melodic, insightful and timeless music from several eras and genres.
THE GENESIS:
As two of the four members of The Relics, Jim and Doug have been sharing popular and relateable songs into seniors and retirement residences in the Calgary area. They decided to expand their repertoire and thus their performing opportunities as a duo by focusing on a laid back, adult/coffee house type feel.
Jim Reader
guitar, voice

With a performance background of nearly five decades, Jim brings his love of folk-based music to The 2 Relics. As a veteran entertainer, Jim accumulated numerous songwriting awards and nominations on both sides of the 49th. In his '70's band hay-days, he 'opened' for Kenny Rogers, B.J. Thomas (two tours) and Tommy James and the Shondells - if you're old enough to remember those guys! His unique finger picking style and raw free-wheeling voice have been the foundation for his overall body of work. Jim has a blast collaborating with Doug to make their repertoire pleasing and enjoyable for all.
"This fella does it all and really comes to life when he performs with talent and personality that draws attention immediately".

Any music that provides an intimate connection to the listener and creates real joy and emotion for the audience is the music Doug loves to play. Enter The 2 Relics repertoire!
"There is a quiet and respectful gentleman who slips in, slides in , then…WOW...away he goes rocking, then mellowing. I have often sat watching …admiring…enjoying the vibration he brings to every touch…glide…pound…ring of cymbals…tapping delicately …THEN !! rip roaring…setting the scene!
